normaal/abnormaal

(fashion and technology 2008)

Why do we, as a society, have the need to change things that are natural – to something that is accepted by society?

It is a form of body modification, only we don’t see it anymore, it has become normal.

And when we don’t follow it, we are considered abnormal.

With this thought I chose to do a project with one of the most taboo subject that is still not acceptable;

women’s hair in normal but “inappropriate” places.

Take for example – armpit hair and leg hair – two perfectly normal things, but, things that have not been accepted for centuries by society, women or men.

To abject this topic, I took a social object seen to us as pretty and normal, which is the stiletto heel.

With the use of rubber, I try to transform it into something more natural,

and by using my own hair – and putting it on it – I try to invite the viewer to think about how the world in which we live in,

has influenced us in the way we think and see things.

blending in
(camouflage 2007)

Camouflage was a assignment during the first year at the art academy.

In this movie I make a draw on a cardboard wear at one side it was a forest and on the other a concrete wall.

In the video I try to show that people like to blend in, and in order to do that you need to look like the rest.

It is taken from a a personal point of view, like a journey. And at the end of it, the person finds that he does not need nothing more than hem self to achieve that.
